Stayton Cooperative Telephone Company Becomes PEAK Internet Partner

Corvallis, OR – February 1, 2006 – Effective January 31, 2006, Stayton Cooperative Telephone Company (SCTC) is proud to announce that it has joined Pioneer Consolidated and Consumers Power as owners of PEAK Internet, a premier Oregon Internet Services Provider.

Don Lawrence, President and CEO of SCTC, said, “We’re happy to join two other outstanding Oregon companies, Pioneer Consolidated and Consumers Power, in the ownership of a growing, dynamic company like PEAK. SCTC, located in Stayton, Oregon, was organized in 1955 when a group of small rural telephone companies banded together to form a cooperative corporation. SCTC has grown from a few hundred lines in 1955 to over 10,000 access lines today. In 1997 they expanded the business by acquiring People’s Telephone Co. in Lyons, Oregon. A number of affiliates exist to provide customers with services such as long distance, Internet, high-speed data connections, wireless communications, DIRECTV and alarm systems and monitoring. Today, the company looks to invest in the future by exploring new technologies such as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and wireless broadband services.

Located in Corvallis, Oregon, PEAK Internet was founded in 1992 and was acquired in 2002 by Casco Communications, an Oregon-based company owned by Pioneer Consolidated and Consumers Power.
